A 🌮 is nothing without salsa.

A place for experiments

Seriously, some salsas take ages to perfect and so does work. So, I dedicated an entire page for failed experiments, work in process, or simply stuff that I did and I liked but not enough to put it on the front of my website.

Year 2012
School CENTRO

Time for a little TBT! I studdied Visual Communication in México City, and one of the subjects I took was Typography design, as you might know or not I am quite passionate about this subject. Anyway, this was my class project which was based on the observation of the counter forms in letters, I choose two fonts as inspiration for creating my own Knockout and Frutiger which back when I was studying where one of my favorites.

Year 2018
Agency The Artificial
Client Roader

When a project kicked off its design phase at The Artificial we would organize design jams. They consisted on dividing the whole studio in teams, and making each team responsible for coming up with a direction in a limited time (normally 6 hours). Usually we would provide each team with a set of constraints and some guidance. This design jam was the one that gave life to Roader. Kamila and I worked together to present the first direction, which sadly, wasn't chosen. I would’ve liked to continue working on it cause we thought it had a lot of potential.

Year 2016-2018
Agency The Artificial
Client Collaborative Project

The summer of 2016 surprised us with Pokémon Go, which quickly made The Artificial exited! When I joined the agency Gen 1 was already out so I joined the project when it had already started and created new creatures. I think it is a great way to practice pixel perfect illustration and abstraction, some of these crits where tough to make. To my surprise this project has a lot of fans and they constantly ask us to create new pokémons, at least whenever the game realeases a new generation. You can catch them all here!

Year 2018
Agency Freelance Project
Client The Juice Experiment

For the past 3 months I've been working closely with the Juice Experiment, to develop a visual identity and packaging for a juice shop in San Antonio Texas. Here's a sneak peak, it is still work in progress but I am super exited about it, at the moment I am helping my client choose the right bottle for the juices so in the next steps are refining the labels, creating a web shop, and coming up with their social media strategy!

Year 2018
Agency The Artificial

I've been working on a series of icons for to [icon], it is called Nostalgia because it is all about objects that remind me of my childhood or home. Maybe the name will change because I will add some food and some animals which are things that are part of my life, specially my awesome catsaurous Lola who deserves her own icon fosho.

Year 2014
Agency Total Identity
Client Stichting Lezen & Schrijven

A few years back we made this proposal for the Reading and Writing annual report, I loved the chapter entrance images but it was sadly turned into a pdf. I was expecting for them to go for a webpage, but helaas I really liked the concept cause duh the company's purpose is to help people who can not read and write good (like in Zoolander) become capable of doing so. I thought that the type being in and out of focus, plus it more or less hidden suited well with the purpose of the organization.
